Hey Colion, really appreciate you covering my incident. Happy to answer any questions you may have including on a video if you wish.
I’ve kinda checked out from reading and responding to comments as much the past week or so for my own mental health. 99.99% of people have been incredibly supportive, but the 0.01% that have told me I deserved this and deserve the way I feel about myself have gotten under my skin despite my best efforts.
At this point I do think I “jumped the gun” and pulled the trigger on accident. Denying that won’t put the round back in the chamber or my nut back in it’s sack. I don’t remember my finger being on the trigger as I drew it, but my memory is pretty hazy due to the whole shock and trauma response.
I know Negligent Discharge is the proper term and I’m not trying to hide from the fact this is 100% on me. I have a lot to say about the difference on negligence vs. accidental at this point due to my first hand experience, but I don’t know if I’m quite ready for that yet.
I don’t blame the holster or the pistol, and my views on gun ownership have not changed. I fired pistols with my friend for the first time since the accident yesterday.
Again, I appreciate everyone’s kind words so much. I’m healing up well. Spending a lot of time with my wife and kids. I’ve got a long road of healing left to walk, but at least I’m alive to walk it.
