I went to Welding School in the early 1970’s. I was soon making more $$ than my salesman dad, which made him kinds butt-hurt. I made a lot more than my women friends who wore dresses/shirts to work in offices. I bought a couple cars with cash. Yes it was hard work. I got dirty and I also got really strong. As the first or only woman on every single job, I took a jaw-dropping amount of harassment because there were no rules about harassment back then. I took the harassment and smiled all the way to the bank every Friday. I am 75 now and all I can say it was quite a ride and I am glad I was a welder.
