As a military veteran I took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution as Trump was supposed to do. The Constitutionās Article I, Section 8 specifically lists as a power of Congress the power āto declare War,ā which unquestionably gives the legislature the power to initiate hostilities. I upheld my oath……Trump has not.
Requesting permission at the last minute would have blown the operation. The President was told that the Iranians were planning an attack on Israel. Had he done that, the scumbag and his 40 cronies would have been notified by either Congress or news outlets and he would not have been able to exterminate the murderous bastards! Trump took the same oath. However, I think that he actually READ the Constitution. When the time comes to declare war, only Congress can do it. The War Powers Act authorizes the President to take limited action, as long as Congress is advised, in advance. Secretary Rubio did that.

Many presidents, ie Kennedy and the Bay of Pigs have moved forward with actions of war without Congressās declaration of war b/c the Commander in Chief, Article 2 and a separation of powers, would never get anything accomplished if he had to rely on all the Congressman to be on the same page without leaking intel.
