As a Navy veteran I stood bridge watch many times as my ship was coming into or out of port. When we were doing this we took specific care to never point the ships bow at any bridge pylons at any time. just in case we did lose power and we had procedures to drop anchors before getting into range of said pylons. And after looking at the publicly available video of the event it appeared to me that the ship deliberately turned into the Baltimore pylon. This along with the missing two minutes of black box data seems to indicate this was an intentional act and should be investigated has such.

Why should taxpayers pay for a new bridge? Shouldn’t the ship company pay for the damage it caused?
If the bridge was so easily destroyed why put up another? Seems like a road going around Baltimore would be easier and safer to put up. Why take the chance of another boat hitting the bridge and having it fall. Or make a draw bridge that would keep people off when a boat was near. I find rebuilding a waste of money, course Balitimore is Biden town and he loves to spend money. Would rather waste money and give illegals evrything then help VET’S or seniors. I am an 85 yr. old Sr., born here, paid taxes for over 59 yrs. by working and on low income. Now the acp free phone program is ending at the end of this month. They are out of money. Of course they are they gave all these illegals free phones. Now Srs. on low income will now have to pay for a phone of which I can’t afford. I, like many Srs. now how to use what SS we get to just to buy groceries. I don’t drive and use a walker to go anyplace, God forbid I need 911 at home or out I am out of luck. These illegals get everything and American citizens get it in the butt. They take from us to give to these illegals, yes illegals cause this is what they are.
I’m not quite as young as you, but I agree. I’ve always had to budget and be careful with money but now it’s scripts or eat.
