Finally, someone clearly articulates the major economics problems we face. Heinlein said “There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch” a long time ago and my dad used to say “The chickens always come home to roost.” It will not be fun to deal with these problems and it will take time. But it must be done.

My takeaway: the problem is Schumer and Pelosi are still around

  1. We know how we arrived at this economic state in which we find ourselves. Fortunately the Biden administration is over but look at its legacy. Trump and his folks have their work cut out for them. It will take time but it must be done. Pelosi, Schumer and others of their ilk should follow Dick Durbin into retirement. It can’t happen soon enough.

  2. The DEMS have robbed and nearly took us to complete financial ruin. This invasion against the citizens of this country should put heads on sticks! Had President Trump not have gotten back in after the stolen 2020 election. We would be a 3rd world country. Somebody need’s to pay!

  3. VDH should review this commentary and realize he’s pointed out the problem and it’s not trade deficits, it’s our $37 trillion debt. That’s based on out of control government spending, not a trade deficit. Wealthy countries will run trade deficits when other countries can produce goods at a cheaper price. Tariffs don’t change that, they are a tax that is transferred to the consumer and are inflationary. We should also question why it’s Democrats that have historically been worried about trade deficits and demand tariffs as the answer (don’t forge this is a favorite policy of Bernie Sanders). Milton Friedman is currently rolling over in his grave. This across the board tariff policy is bad economics.
