They were not deported, they were denied entry. There IS a difference.
When I went to Iceland a few summers ago with my husband for his 40th birthday, we were practically read the riot act. I had to prove my airfare, including return flight. I was flagged because we had no formal lodging booked. So I had to send the receipts for the camping card and camper van I booked. Then even at the airport we were pulled for extra security because we did not have any checked bags for a 12 day trip. We showed our hiking packs and I explained we had 7 days worth of hiking clothes and were doing laundry halfway through the trip. So spare me the “only the US acts like this.” Honestly, Iceland must have become lax in the years because now there are problems with pickpockets and theft. And it isnt from locals! Its almost like letting in the wrong people will make a country unsafe and less desirable
