During an interview last Saturday, Senior Trump Campaign Advisor Steve Cortez got fed up and put Fox News host Chris Wallace in his place for being confrontational — when he was supposed to be a neutral and impartial “debate moderator” — during the first presidential debate between President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden.
According to 100 Percent Fed Up, Chris Wallace was once again out for President Trump’s blood. This time, Wallace went after Steve Cortez over the Trump family’s removing their masks during the presidential debate.
“Everybody wore a mask, why didn’t they?” Wallace asked.
Cortez quipped, “Chris, the way you’re starting to harang me now, actually reminds me of what you did to the president during that debate on Tuesday night.”
“Oh, yeah — I harangued him!” Wallace cried.
“No, he had to debate not only Joe Biden, but he had to debate you as well. You were not a neutral debate moderator then,” Cortez explained, before adding: “I don’t mind tough questions—okay? I welcome reasonably tough questions, but what I don’t think is okay, is for you to become the effective opposition to the President!”
He continued, “Everyone there was tested in the crowd. They were distanced from each other. People can make reasonable decisions for themselves!”
“No, actually they can’t!” Wallace replied. “There are rules and they will be kicked out next time!” he threatened.
Wallace is a registered Democrat, and he blamed President Trump for his unsightly behavior, all because Trump interrupted him and Biden.
“Let me simply say, the president interrupted me and the vice president 145 times, so I object to saying I harangued the president.”
It’s a debate — interruptions are not unusual, especially in the heat of the moment when a participant wants to get their point across.
In that situation, President Trump had the odds stacked against him. I mean, he did have to debate against two people instead of just Biden.
Here’s the video of the exchange:
