At a Trump rally, a protester was shot and killed, while a Capitol Police officer died after protesters poured into the Capitol building and became violent.

Soon after, the Capitol Police allowed videos of crowds to enter began to appear and circulate.

As PJ Media reported, some of the protesters were, in fact, allowed onto the grounds and into the building, which explains why some entered and stayed within the velvet guide ropes, taking selfies and staying peaceful. And those who were not peaceful.

Two reporters from the Washington Examiner spoke with dozens of people who said that Capitol Police allowed them to enter the Capitol Building as they do with visitors.

Now, there’s a video showing that not only did the police let the protesters in, a phalanx of police even watched as they let the protesters — some of whom were chanting, “f*cking traitors!” — in.

Another man can be heard wondering aloud if it might be some trick when he said, “they’re gonna lock us in.”

At a different entrance, officers were physically halting people as they tried to come into the complex.

According to the Associated Press, the Capitol Police are mourning the loss of one of their own who was reportedly hit in the head by a violent protester during the takeover. As the AP reported, they were “still stinging from the uproar over the violent response by law enforcement to protests last June near the White House, and officials also were intent on avoiding any appearance that the federal government was deploying active duty or National Guard troops against Americans.”

They were ready for a “free speech demonstration,” but they were not ready for being overrun by protesters and an out-of-control mob. However, according to the AP, the Capitol Police were offered federal help twice, but they refused both times.
