Remember when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shot down the $1.8 trillion COVID-19 stimulus proposal in the fall? They reasoned then that an election was near and obviously didn’t want to give the Trump administration another “victory.”
The house refusal only made things harder for the Americans in the succeeding months, prompting Congress to settle for a $900 billion COVID-19 package instead.
Pelosi now seems to take credit for “saving lives” with the measly $600 package to American families. That’s even when she was the cause of why the bill was significantly reduced.
“Congressional Democrats have reached an agreement with Republicans and the White House on an emergency coronavirus relief and omnibus package that delivers urgently needed funds to save the lives and livelihoods of the American people,” Pelosi tweeted.
Social media users blasted her post, with one user saying, “Wow! Trump’s plan was way more. Pelosi held up the bill, she wasn’t happy about not getting more for Corp America, and many people say it’s Trump’s fault! Trump wanted $1200 per person, $2400 per couple, and $500 per kid. Now, it’s $600 per person and $100 per kid.”
In early December, Senator Durbin admitted that the left blocked the initially proposed $1.2 trillion bill in the fall because “an election was coming up.” The Democrats were just so scared the Republicans would have the edge over the proposed budget.
A week before the senator’s remarks, Bernie Sanders likewise admitted that the Democrats stalked the talks.
Say goodbye to $1.8 trillion because of the selfish Democrats, who now try to take credit for the $900 billion. Just another example of how far the left prioritizes politics over American relief.
