Former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has not been the same since she was beaten by President Donald Trump in 2016.
Since then, she has devoted her time to attacking President Trump every chance she gets. On Friday, she had a meltdown as she talked about the seat on the Supreme Court left vacant after the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away.
The Democrats “will have to use every single possible maneuver” to prevent what would be the “greatest travesty”, and a “monumental hypocrisy” if Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell were to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg before the elections on November, according to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Her comments had come just hours after McConnell vowed to hold a vote on President Donald Trump’s replacement nominee.
Appearing on MSNBC, the former Secretary of State told the host Rachel Maddow, “The Democrats who are in the Senate will have to use every single possible maneuver that is available to them to make it clear that they are not going to permit Mitch McConnell to enact the greatest travesty, the monumental hypocrisy, that would arise from him attempting to fill this position.”
This was the beginning of her meltdown. It is unclear what tools the Democrats have exactly, as they are not even in the majority in the Senate.
“Mitch McConnell cares only about one thing and that’s power,” she said. “He cares about literally nothing else. And, of course, he’s going to do everything he can to fill that seat.”
Was she talking about herself, perhaps?
She and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, have spent their entire lives trying to obtain more power and maintaining the power that they already have.
Regardless, she went on as if what she said wasn’t a prime example of hypocrisy.
“It’s also a reminder that she stood on the side of moving us towards a perfect union and really underscoring equality, not just for women but for every American, and I don’t want to see that legacy ripped up by political hypocrisy coming from Mitch McConnell,” she said.
“I would argue on the underlying original intent of the Constitution and the founders that presidents have the right to appoint judges, to fill vacancies, and Mitch McConnell denied Barack Obama that right,” she added. “That set in motion a series of events that I think did great damage to the Senate that can only be remedied by removing Mitch McConnell as the leader of the Senate.”
To be fair, her argument that presidents have the right to nominate a justice, but Senator McConnell broke those rules, is justified. But the only way to remedy that is to continue breaking the rules.
Most people do not understand their side and get why the Democrats are angry.
But let’s face it: if the Dems had the power that McConnell has, they would probably do the same thing. And if they do succeed in “removing McConnell as the leader of the Senate” and replacing him with a Democrat, they likely will.
