DOJ: Rioters Intended to Capture and Assassinate?

A Justice Department court filing has recently revealed a plan that rioters allegedly thought up to “capture and assassinated” elected officials during last week’s raid on the US Capitol.

In the court filing, federal prosecutors asked an Arizona judge to detain Jacob Chansley, a man from Arizona who was pictured wearing face and body makeup and buffalo horns while standing at Vice President Mike Pence’s desk the Senate.

Chansley is set to appear in a federal court on Friday.

According to the DOJ, the FBI investigated Chansley, who, according to reports, had allegedly left a note on the vice president’s desk saying that “it’s only a matter of time, justice is coming.”

The federal prosecutors’ filing on Thursday also stated, “Strong evidence, including Chansley’s own words and actions at the Capitol, supports that the Capitol rioters intended to capture and assassinate elected officials in the United States government.”

On Friday, according to a report from Reuters, prosecutors said the charges against Chansley “involve active participation in an insurrection attempting to overthrow the United States government violently” and that Chansley is a serious flight risk.

“Chansley has spoken openly about his belief that he is an alien, a higher being, and he is here on Earth to ascend to another reality,” prosecutors added in the filing.

According to reports, he also phoned the FBI after the riots and told them that he was “glad he sat in the vice president’s chair because Vice President Pence is a child-trafficking traitor.”

However, Chansley’s lawyer, Albert Watkins, is reportedly seeking a pardon from President Trump for his client’s role in the US Capitol’s raid.

Chansley has allegedly stated that he “accepted the president’s invitation” to march on the US Capitol “with good intentions.”

“My client had heard the oft-repeated words of President Trump,” Watkins said in a statement on Thursday. “The words and invitation of a president are supposed to mean something. Given the peaceful and compliant fashion in which Mr. Chansley comported himself, it would be appropriate and honorable for the president to pardon Mr. Chansley and other like-minded, peaceful individuals who accepted the president’s invitation with honorable intentions.”

The lawyer went on, “Mr. Chansley is an American; he served honorably in the US military. He has zero criminal histories. He is a lover of nature, routinely practices meditation is an active practicer of yoga, and eats only organic food. He took the countless messages of President Trump seriously.”

“He believed in President Trump,” Watkins concluded. “Like tens of millions of other Americans, Chansley felt — for the first time in his life — as though his voice was being heard.”

Newly released video from The New Yorker shows the extreme violence as rioters enter the senate chamber (sarcasm):

I don’t believe any Conservative that got caught up in the moment and entered the Capital, was there to commit a felony. A lot of people truly believe that building is the people’s building, which it is, but for our government to conduct the job of governing. It’s a shame hardly none of that actually took place over the last 4 years. In the last 2 years congress did nothing except to try to remove the President from office. It’s shameful they could not see through their hatred to do their job! Unless people were on a lawful tour they had no business being there. Unfortunately there were impostors there posing as Trump supporting Conservatives. We already know of the young man from Utah, video recording and urging people on to commit violent acts. I’m certain some of those impostors were the ones that began the assault in the first place, but if not, then let it play out in the courts. As far as this young fella trying to convince everyone he’s an alien, fine. Lock him up for being here illegally!
