Candace Owens, a known conservative commentator, and activist threatens to sue fact-checkers from Facebook in a defamation lawsuit.
The Daily Wire reported that Owens said fact-checkers in the giant social media platform are currently targeting her, leading to her Facebook page’s demonetization. The conservative commentator claims the fact-checkers “flag what they seem to be misinformation.”
According to Facebook, Owens shared a post about a doctor’s opinion on COVID-19, which does not align with their coronavirus stance.
“Quite literally, a doctor gave his opinion about COVID-19, which I shared, and Facebook issued a strike on my account because they said only information that they agree with about COVID-19 … was acceptable,” explained Owens.
The conservative commentator then said to have decided not to give up. She claims the fact-checkers are left-wing activists that “shut down speech if they don’t like it.”
“It’s time to fact-check the fact-checkers,” continued Owens, adding to “put these suckers through discovery” and then discover the kind of relationship they with Facebook.
The Daily Wire further reported that Owens launched an online website to crowdfund her future legal battles against the giant platform.
Owen’s website, entitled “Fact-Check Zuck,” states, “Our freedoms are being stripped away.”
It refers to the Big Techs as overlords determining what the people can and cannot say, like, share, and post. It then encourages support in the legal efforts in fighting back Facebook fact-checkers while confronting suppressors of free speech, expression, and thought across the nation.
Fox News also reported Owens retained lawyers to represent her in the lawsuit. One of them is Atty. Todd McMurty who was a part of Nick Sandmann’s legal team.
Owens posted a video on Twitter early this month to share further information on the suit.
“Guess what?! I am OFFICIALLY suing the ‘Fact-Checkers’ who are really just activists,” announced Owens.
