President Joe Biden’s long-awaited first press conference took place last week, and it was just what we expected.
He had a binder full of very detailed notes waiting for him on the stage. It not only contained names of the reporters he could call on, but it also had their pictures.
Aside from that, he somehow knew what questions those reporters would ask him, and he read all of his answers straight from the binder.
Despite having such a detailed list, Biden struggled during the press conference. He not only fumbled through his notes, but he also mumbled through his answers—in typical Biden fashion.
As Biden answered questions, he paused too many times to read through his notes.
“What is your red line on North Korea?” a reporter asked him.
“Number one, U.N. Resolution 1718 was violated by those particular missiles that tested. Number one—we’re consulting with our allies and partners, and there will be responses,” Biden answered.
“If they choose to escalate, we will respond accordingly,” he continued. “I’m also prepared for some form of diplomacy, but it has to be conditioned on the result of denuclearisation.”
“So that’s what we’re doing right now—consulting with our allies,” he repeated.
If this is what Biden has to show for his first press conference, how will the next ones go? How much worse would it have been if he didn’t have his binder of answers to read?
Twitter users believe he won’t be running in 2024, and they might just be right.
