The spike in ratings upon Kimmel’s return was just because many were boycotting the free speech issue, not Kimmel himself. After about the first 2 days of Kimmel’s return, even the dissenters had to agree that Kimmel still was funny. They tried to save him but Kimmel didn’t try to save himself – his material still sucks.
