Property taxes fund schools, I know that to be true. When you are a senior citizen, you have no children in school, except for extreme circumstances. Another reason that senior citizens should not pay real estate taxes!

I resent paying property taxes that go UP EVERY year!!! I am in my mid-70’s and have OWNED my home for almost 24 yrs and have NO mortgage! I paid off the mortgage EARLY, and this Property Tax is my BIGGEST household billing expense EVERY YEAR!! WHY???? They always say Schools & Libraries get funds —yet students text scores have fallen for decades!!! I also live in an Oil & Gas producing as well as a Lottery State that is also taxed/ %collected for money going to Education & Libraries…when I hear there is a massive surplus from those 2 collections, so WHY do they need my Property taxes???
