Nah Bro. Retired SWAT officer here. Ive dealt with 5150’s with knives, Machetes, and even a hostage. All of them were alive when we were done. Tatum needs to go sit on this one.
10 year veteran police officer here. Brother this isn’t justified. I’ve been to plenty of homes and deescalated situations like this. It’s clear this lady was dealing with something. This young officer had an ego issue and had no care for human life. Not fit to wear the badge.
For all intents and purposes, the officers used lethal weapons in a non-lethal situation. Your theory of not knowing if it was water, doesn’t hold up. They witnessed her pour out some. If it were acid, or any other type of Liquid, the officer closest to her had a Birds Eye view and would have known. The first obvious question I had was why would you have her even go near the stove? That I’m my opinion was the first major really stupid move. Why didn’t they just suggest she pick up a butcher knife? They put themselves into this position and it cost her life. There were two men, against a mentally disabled woman. They could have stood at different angles confusing her. Threatening her certainly was a stupid move, and why guns, didn’t they have tasers, or other non-lethal alternatives? No, in my opinion this was unjustified. I’m not saying they should go to jail for murder, but at least the shooter doesn’t belong in law enforcement.
